WLFH heating film under laminate and engineered wood – only 1 mm thick
A heating wire with double ETFE insulation between two layers of glass-fibre-reinforced aluminium foil that spreads heat evenly over the whole surface. Only 1 mm thick, laid dry on an acoustic underlay directly under laminate panels or engineered wood. Ideal for renovating rooms where you do not want tiles, such as a living room or bedroom.
How WLFH film is built
- Heating wire with double ETFE insulation, bonded between two layers of glass-fibre-reinforced aluminium foil
- Ready-made rolls from 1 to 12 m², nothing is cut on site
- One joint made and tested in the factory
- Protective earth (PE) connection
WARMUP heating mats, cables and films are not cut from a roll or drum on site, as “infrared” films are. They are made in set lengths and areas according to the product range. There is only one power joint per room, connecting the cold lead to the heating wire of the cable, mat or film. It is made in the factory, properly insulated and sealed, and put through a high-voltage dielectric test as well as insulation and contact resistance measurements. None of this happens to the crimp connectors of “infrared” films, squeezed together by the installer's fingers on a building site.
When to choose WLFH film
Yes. For floating floors we use WLFH heating film, which has a protective earth conductor and a wire with ETFE insulation, laid on an acoustic underlay directly under the floor panels.
When the floor is to be tiles, porcelain or stone, the right choice is SPM heating mats or DCM-PRO heating cables.
Warmup WLFH heating film vs “infrared” film – a comparison
| Warmup WLFH heating film | “Infrared” film |
|---|---|
| Heating wire with double ETFE insulation, bonded between two layers of glass-fibre-reinforced aluminium foil | A carbon layer in PET film |
| Ready-made rolls from 1 to 12 m², nothing is cut on site | Cut from a roll by the installer on site |
| One joint made and tested in the factory | Each sheet connected separately with crimped L and N connectors. Joints sealed by hand with butyl tape |
| Protective earth (PE) connection | The film cannot be connected to a protective earth (PE) conductor, so it provides no protection against electric shock. |

Preparing the subfloor
The durability of the whole floor depends on how the subfloor is prepared. Before installation, the following is on your side:
- dust removal and laying an underlay for floating floors,
- preparing the electrical installation: a back box for the thermostat, a 230 V supply with 3×2.5 mm² cable, 2 conduits of 20–22 mm diameter to the floor and protection (B16 and a common 30 mA RCD, type B).
Layers from the bottom up:
- concrete screed or OSB board
- PE vapour barrier
- acoustic and insulating underlay
- Warmup WLFH heating film
- laminate panels / engineered wood
Installation and warranty
The film is installed by our team, usually in one day, with resistance measurements and an entry in the warranty certificate. You can also order the film alone, delivered within 48 hours. WLFH film comes with a 15-year manufacturer’s warranty.
Frequently asked questions
Can WLFH film be laid under floor panels?
Yes. For floating floors we use WLFH heating film, which has a protective earth conductor and a wire with ETFE insulation, laid on an acoustic underlay directly under the floor panels.
How much does WLFH film raise the floor level?
The film is only 1 mm thick and is laid dry on an acoustic underlay, directly under the panels or engineered wood.
Is the film cut on site?
No. WLFH film comes as ready-made rolls from 1 to 12 m², with one joint made and tested in the factory.
What is the warranty on WLFH film?
A 15-year manufacturer’s warranty, after registering the warranty with the measurements taken during installation.
