Comfort and low bills

Energy-efficient buildings mean low bills

One of the greatest advantages of modern low-energy homes, whether built traditionally or prefabricated, including timber-frame houses, is their high energy efficiency. Combined with a sensible floor area, usually no more than 120 m², it lets you keep a high level of thermal comfort at relatively low running costs when heating with electricity.

Low-temperature underfloor heating that covers a large surface gives you a level of comfort that radiators, infrared panels or air conditioners cannot match: even temperature throughout the room, a pleasantly warm floor and no dust stirred up from the floor.

Cold feet and a warm head, an unpleasant blast of warm air from an air conditioner, the prickling feeling of infrared from a panel heater, warm and cold spots in a room, or the high installation cost and mandatory servicing of a heat pump do not have to be compromises you live with.

Which system suits your floor?

We choose the system to match the floor construction and finish, not the other way round. Every heating product has factory-tested sealed joints, with one end and one power connection per room.

Concrete screed

WIS heating cables

A classic heat-storage system embedded in screed laid on thermal insulation. The output per m² can be matched to the building's heat demand. You can use any floor finish you like and replace it later without damaging the cables or redoing the heating. Proven in cold Scandinavia, where it is successfully used as the only heat source.

Thin-layer

SPM heating mats and DCM-PRO heating cables

Laid directly in tile adhesive under tiles or stone, or in a thin layer of self-levelling compound. Contrary to what you might expect, they do not raise the floor level: they are so thin that they sit within the layer that goes under the floor finish anyway. Ideal for renovations or finishing a new-build flat, as they can be installed on existing screeds, insulated foundation slabs and timber floors covered with OSB board.

Floating floor

WLFH heating film

A heating wire with double ETFE insulation between two layers of glass-fibre-reinforced aluminium foil that spreads heat evenly over the whole surface. Only 1 mm thick, laid dry on an acoustic underlay directly under laminate panels or engineered wood. Ideal for renovating rooms where you do not want tiles, such as a living room or bedroom.

A solution for every application

Our products suit many different applications. Whether you are laying a traditional concrete screed on insulation, finishing directly on a foundation slab or have a floor on joists, whether you like wood or fashionable vinyl, dream of microcement or simply prefer practical porcelain tiles, we will design and professionally install the right heating system for your project at an affordable price.

SPM heating mats

Just 2 mm. The thinnest heating mats in the world.

SPM heating mats do not raise the floor level because they fit entirely within even the thinnest layer of tile adhesive. When renovating a bathroom or finishing a new flat, the tiler has to keep the heated floor from ending up higher than the hallway floor, so they look for the thinnest heating mat on the market.

Warmup SPM heating mat next to a matchstick: the heating wire is thinner than the match
SPM heating mat next to a matchstick

The difference may seem small, but in practice a thicker mat makes installation much harder or even impossible, especially on an uneven floor, and often forces the owner to give up on a warm floor. Warmup understood this problem well, which is why it offers a heating mat with no equivalent from any competitor.

Where there is plenty of height to spare, embedding the mat in a thinner layer of adhesive still brings real benefits: much shorter warm-up times, which mean lower energy use, and less tile adhesive, which lowers the installation cost.

Running costs

Estimate the annual cost of heating your home with electricity

We are honest about it: electric heating as the only heat source makes sense in modern, sensibly sized buildings, so-called energy-efficient homes. Check your case.

70 m²
Heat demand (from the design, kWh/m²/year)
Estimated annual cost
3 500 PLN / year

Assumptions: electricity price PLN 1.00/kWh incl. VAT (2026 tariff), all electricity taken from the grid, no solar PV.

Good candidate: at this heat demand, electric underfloor heating can be the only heat source.

Considering a heat pump with water underfloor heating?

  • A fraction of the cost: Installing heating mats or cables costs a fraction of a heat pump with plumbing and plant room equipment. You can invest the money saved straight away in solar PV with battery storage.
  • Servicing. A heat pump needs paid servicing; resistive heating has nothing to service.
  • Durability. The compressor, the most expensive part of a heat pump, is expected to last 10–12 years. A heating cable in concrete works trouble-free for decades, covered by the market's leading manufacturer's warranty.
  • Space saved: No plant room, buffer tanks, pipes, circulation pumps or manifold cabinets means you keep valuable square metres in a small building. You gain room for an extra wardrobe or pantry.
  • Maximum efficiency: Smart thermostats with an early-start algorithm, combined with solar PV, dramatically cut your heating bills.

Total cost over the years: installation + bills

The chart updates live: you can change the floor area and energy standard (heat demand) with the slider and buttons in the energy cost calculator above.

What does the chart above tell us?

That heat pumps make no sense in well-insulated homes with a sensible floor area that reflects how we live today – under 100 m². In such buildings, electric underfloor heating is ideal: it is inexpensive to buy, does not take up a room for a plant room and has no servicing costs. The relatively low running costs are acceptable to most users over a year, and with a properly sized solar PV system they can be close to zero.

Installing a heat pump with water underfloor heating in an energy-efficient home of under 80 m² is, from an engineering and financial point of view, a classic case of overkill – like buying a VIP gym membership paid 30 years in advance.

Chart assumptions
  • Floor area and heat demand as in the calculator above; electricity price PLN 1.00/kWh incl. VAT, constant throughout.
  • We compare two systems in a concrete screed: WIS heating cables and water underfloor heating.
  • Electric underfloor heating (WIS heating cables in screed): installation PLN /m² incl. VAT with fitting and thermostats, 100% efficiency, no servicing costs.
  • Air-to-water heat pump: PLN including installation, plumbing and plant room equipment, plus water underfloor heating in screed at PLN /m²; seasonal efficiency SCOP ; servicing PLN /year; compressor replacement in year for PLN .
  • After another 10 years, in year , the whole heat pump needs replacing, because replacing the compressor again makes no technical sense. Cost of a new unit including replacement: PLN .
  • No subsidies, solar PV, inflation or time value of money. This is an illustrative estimate, not an offer.

Physics and safety

Under a floor you walk on barefoot and mop with water, there is no room for compromises on quality or “Asian infrared technologies”.

A 230 V heating system must be built so that for many years it not only provides trouble-free warmth but, above all, poses no danger to the people living with it.

Double ETFE insulation

A fluoropolymer insulation that withstands 260°C. It does not burn out, oxidise or develop micro-cracks, and keeps its insulating properties over time, which is why heating cables and mats carry a lifetime warranty.

Earthed screen (PE)

An earthing screen along the entire length of the cable, connected to the protective earth (PE) conductor. Protection against electric shock, including in wet areas.

One factory joint

One joint per room, made and high-voltage tested in the factory, not made by an installer on site.

Electromagnetic field cancelled

Single-ended supply with the feed and return conductors in one cable, so their fields cancel each other out and the screen removes the rest.

Warmup WLFH Heating film with a heating wire

  • Heating wire with double ETFE insulation, bonded between two layers of glass-fibre-reinforced aluminium foil
  • Ready-made rolls from 1 to 12 m², nothing is cut on site
  • One joint made and tested in the factory
  • Protective earth (PE) connection

“Infrared” film A carbon layer in PET film

  • Cut from a roll by the installer on site
  • Each sheet connected separately with crimped L and N connectors
  • Joints sealed by hand with butyl tape
  • The film cannot be connected to a protective earth (PE) conductor, so it provides no protection against electric shock.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can electric underfloor heating be the only heat source?

Yes, in energy-efficient and passive houses it definitely can. At a heat demand of around 50 kWh/m²/year, heating a 70 m² building costs only about PLN 3,500 a year. In older, poorly insulated buildings it is better used as supplementary heating.

How much does electric heating raise the floor level?

In thin-layer systems, SPM heating mats and DCM-PRO heating cables are laid in tile adhesive or a thin layer of self-levelling compound, which go under the floor finish anyway, so the floor is no higher than an unheated one.

What if a cable gets damaged?

After installation, every system is tested by measuring the resistance of the heating conductors and the insulation, to make sure the cables and mats work properly and are safe to use. Unless it is damaged during installation or later by mechanical means, such as chiselling or drilling into the floor, this heating should not fail on its own. Even so, a fault can be repaired with minimal disruption whatever the cause: there is no need to break up the whole floor and redo the heating, and we have the specialist equipment to do it.

Can electric heating be laid under laminate flooring?

Yes. For floating floors we use WLFH heating film, which has a protective earth conductor and a wire with ETFE insulation, laid on an acoustic underlay directly under the floor panels.

Do you install throughout Poland?

Yes. We have been Warmup's exclusive representative in Poland for 17 years, and our installation teams travel the length and breadth of the country, installing Warmup heating even in its most remote corners. We agree a convenient installation window when the contract is signed, and installation usually takes one day.
